It has come to my attention that are there some people and even companies that are claiming to either represent me or stating that they are “very closely associated” with me in order to get business and even raise funding for projects by stating that I am working with them “behind the scenes”.
Whereas this is not only distressing, it is also both fraudulent and criminal.
I am planning to compile a list of persons/companies that are masquerading under this cover – and who I am not in any manner or form associated with/part of or even remotely linked to.
Added to this are recent reports in the South African media by a disgraced journalist who was once in the employ of a law-enforcement agency and his ex-MI agent-accomplice – who also happens to be a failed newspaper editor, alluding to my so-called involvement in certain activities and contracts which I am not even part of. It seems as though they cannot live a life without writing disinformation. It makes me wonder who their new paymasters are.
The onus is on the prospective client to investigate any person or company who is trying to get a contract.
I would therefore encourage any person, institution, company or government (including intelligence agencies) that is approached by anyone claiming to either know me or represent me to contact me for confirmation. I will gladly assist in exposing those who are masquerading under my name and lying to get contracts or funding.
I'll keep my eye out and ensure everyone in my circle is aware.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered your book. Looking forward to the read!
I would be very grateful if you kept your ear to the ground, Gato Blanco.
ReplyDeleteThank you for buying my book. I hope you enjoy it.
Rgds,
Eeben
Eeben I will do the same here in the States (where can I touch base if anything surfaces)? I thoroughly enjoyed your book! I have the utmost respect for what you have done and accomplished. All the best for 2011.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Bradley
Sorry to hear Sir.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sad fact that when some individuals leave the Military things like integrity and honour become meaningless words and not tenets to live by anymore.
Most people wouldn't know you by name but mention EO and a lot do, especially in defence circles. You are a victim of your own success and fame sadly and the parasites of the world will probably always try to pull themselves up on your coat tails.
I'll be interested to see your list, I'm sure a lot of others will to.
All the best,
Mac
Thanks for buying the book and taking the trouble to read it, Bradley. It is much appreciated.
ReplyDeletePlease do keep your ear to the ground. If you pick up anything, do advise me via the blog.
A great 2011 to you as well.
Rgds,
Eeben
You are absolutely correct, Mac. Some folks disregard all matters such as honesty, integrity and honour once they leave the armed forces. It makes one wonder if they were simply acting out those values when they were in uniform.
ReplyDeleteThe list is coming along nicely. Apart from Northbridge, some others have already been added. I shall post it as soon as I am ready. Ironically, I have already had a mail apologising for claiming to represent me – the writer stating that he thought it was “okay” to do so!
Rgds,
Eeben
Sad but hardly surprising. Too many people try to live of others' accomplishments these days. The silver lining is that nowadays anyone with a modicum of interest can google "Eeben Barlow" and get the facts straight.
ReplyDeleteStill, very unfortunate.
Best regards
Some people will never be understood, Burro. Fortunately, the world is a small place and getting smaller so their chances of getting away with it are becoming even smaller.
ReplyDeleteRgds,
Eeben
Eeben have you seen this? ikroti_steyn@yahoo.com

Thanks for the article, Bradley.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else had also sent it to me...seems as though these guys do not want the truth to stand in the way of a good story. Sad, especially when their job is to inform and not misinform.
Rgds,
Eeben
Hi Eeben, I am not a milatary man, but I have just finished reading your book and loved it. I cannot believe how we, as ordernaly citizans, were brainwashed, and lied to for their(politicians) own personal greed,it is reaaly sickening. I realy enjoyed your book and thanks for setting the record straight.Do you think it will ever be possible to make these corruted politicians accounteble for their deeds? Or just bring their names out in the open, especially the old apartheid politicians.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to read my book, Koena.
ReplyDeleteAll governments use deception to some extent to keep the citizens in line. The old SA government was no exception but they certainly succeeded in bluffing most of us most of the time. That said, many of my colleagues and I would still have been soldiers as we saw it as our calling. Many of us still feel extremely bitter at how we were treated in the end and how they destroyed our lives and careers.
There have been some attempts to expose their corruption and duplicity but I doubt that the truth will ever be made public as there are so many interests, both political and economical, at play that they require their protection.
I challenged our then Min of Foreign Affairs and his henchmen (on live television) to a live debate in the early 1990s – I wanted it “live” to ensure that nothing could be censored or cut out – and said that I would expose their corruption, lying and duplicity – but they refused to accept the offer. That said it all to me.
Their champions and bad-partners in the media were also never going to have the courage to expose them as they too had too much to hide and protect.
However, perhaps one day, someone will have the courage to expose them and strip away their thin veneers of respectability, integrity and “honour”.
Rgds,
Eeben
